A dedication to a special teacher
On Thursday, May 30, Steven Atme visited Parkdale Elementary school on a very special mission. When he attended the school many years back, he was fortunate to have Maria Cordova as his teacher. Steven describes her as strong, courageous, passionate, determined and loving. He credits her with helping him to become the person he is today, and has never forgotten this.
In the presence of Maria’s daughter Veronica and Parkdale principal George Koutsoulis, two plaques in Maria’s honour were uveiled. One, which was designed by Steven, includes class photos, a column that he published in Inspirations and a personal message to the public. The other shares a message honouring Maria. Both plaques now hang outside of Room 9, the classroom in which Steven studied with Maria.
In addition, Steven will address Parkdale graduates at their upcoming graduation ceremony!
