Congratulations, Wagar graduate!
Three years ago, during the tail end of the pandemic, we were fortunate to meet and work with Wagar Computer Graphics student Michael Rivard. He was one of four interns that participated in an online stage at Inspirations.
The next year, Michael joined us at the English Montreal School Board headquarters to do a two-day per week in-person internship that began in January and ran until mid-June. Michael and his classmate Nathan Stacey were terrific interns. During their stages, they created advertisements for clients, flyers for special occasions, updated our website and database when needed, and designed a mini-edition of Inspirations.
This school year, we welcomed two new interns, and at the same time, were pleased that Michael kept the door open to us. From time to time, he even pitched in, training our new interns on how to upload articles to our website. We were so grateful for his continued support.
And so, you can imagine our delight when Michael’s teacher, Elias Tanbe called us to share some amazing news. Michael would be graduating this year!
On June 21, Michael, his teachers, job coach, stage supervisors, Wagar administrators and classmates gathered in the school’s auditorium to applaud Michael as he crossed the stage in his cap and gown to receive his certificate of graduation. He was the program’s sole graduate this year.
While Michael is ready to move on to new challenges, he will most likely not be straying too far from the Wagar campus. There is talk that he will join Elias formally in the classroom, continuing the work he has already begun helping the students master their craft and enhance their learning.
We are delighted for Michael, and very proud to have played a small role in his educational journey! Best of luck with your future endeavors, Michael!
