Day-One Dalkeith Entry Procedures | 2026 -2027
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this email finds you well and hopefully rested. On behalf of our entire staff at Dalkeith Elementary, we are looking forward to welcoming you to the 2026-2027 academic school year.
All EMSB schools are reopening for students of Grades 1-6 on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026.
There is a progressive start for parents of Preschool (K4/K5) or Closed Classes and those classes begin Thursday, September 3rd, 2026.
DAY 1: Grades 1 – 6 staggered entry procedure

For Daycare Students: THE ONLY ENTRANCE FOR DAYCARE WILL BE THE FAR DOOR ON GONCOURT. Remember,
goodbyes should be said outside before the students enter the building.
If you are sending your child in on the bus on Day One: Bus passes are NO LONGER MAILED HOME. As of this school year parents can view their child’s 2026-2027 transportation details in the Mozaik Parent Portal. This information is current accessible for valid Mozaik users. To view busing info, Login to your account, go to “Record” and click “Transportation”. Instructions for Mozaik [including registration] can be found on the website.
Students who requested busing can take the bus on the first morning without needing a pass. Please be prudent and verify with the driver that your child is indeed on the list and that the bus is going to Dalkeith.
IMPORTANT: You should be at the stop at least 10 min. prior to the scheduled time. Bus drivers are practicing their routes before the start of school, but as always, with road work and changing traffic patterns the pick-up and drop-off times will become more consistent as the routes settle.
As soon as the school receives the physical bus passes, we will send them home with the child.
Walkers (If you are bringing your child(ren) in on Day One): Entry will be FROM THE BACK SCHOOLYARD between 9:20 and 9:30 (approx. 20 min AFTER the busses). You can wait with your child in the schoolyard for our first day back. N.B. this is for “Day 1” ONLY.
Afterwards, walker entry will be from the main Goncourt Door at 9:00am and you must wait with your child OUTSIDE until that time.
For Pre-K, Kindergarten and our Closed Classrooms: You will be getting a phone call directly from your child’s teacher very soon to explain their first day procedures. If you have not been contacted by August 28th, we ask you to contact the school to ensure that we have your correct contact information. Your child’s orientation will be scheduled by appointment on either the 1st or 2nd and classes for them will begin on September 3rd, 2026.
More information about the year will be sent home on the students’ first day so please check their bags [and your emails] as the children start the year.
