Montreal - Wednesday, March 17, 2021

Upon the recommendation of Santé Publique, the English Montreal School Board has announced that Michelangelo International Elementary School in RDP will be closed effective immediately for precautionary reasons due to recent cases of COVID-19.

The EMSB has been following all COVID-19 safety protocols this calendar year and maintained a low infection rate among students and staff of 1.4 percent. This marks the first time that a school has to be closed.

It is important to note that all students and their families are considered to be low risk and may therefore continue with their daily activities. Nonetheless, at this point Santé Publique is strongly encouraging all students and their families to be tested.  Students in five classes, considered at moderate risk, must remain in isolation until March 25.

Students are being asked to stay home from Wednesday, March 17 to Friday, March 26. Families are being given an opportunity to go get tested. School will resume in person on Monday, March 29, 2021, unless Santé Publique issues new guidelines. Students will continue their studies online   as of Thursday, March 18.
